A quick chat with Sailfast UK

Can you tell us a bit about the origins of Sailfast UK and how the business has evolved over the years?

Sailingfast was established in 2002 by myself Duncan Hepplewhite. The sole aim was to supply the Scottish sailing market with the best equipment quickly.

What were the key milestones in the development of Sailfast UK that helped shape the company's direction and growth in the sailing industry?

We have always worked with the best manufacturers, we pride ourselves on our excellent service. 

What is the main focus of Sailfast UK in the UK sailing market, and how do you see it continuing to grow in the coming years?

The key aim of sailing fast is to deliver the very best products as fast as we can to our customers, and back this up with the best possible product knowledge and service. In the coming years we will continue to maintain our high standards and work with the best manufacturers.

How has RaceSense impacted your business and the sailors you work with? What do you think makes it stand out compared to other systems?

Race Sense is a Game Changer. I (Duncan) have just returned from the RS21 Worlds in Spain where the event used Race Sense. It is an incredibly intuitive product and system that is loved by Sailors and race management. I don’t think there is another system that competes with the Vakaros Race Sense.

What are the key benefits you’ve observed from using RaceSense technology, and how has it enhanced your sailors' experience on the water?

Race sense enable to Race Officer to Ping the start line and manage our timers. This enables the sailors to focus on the upwind sailing angles, tide and conditions, preparing a plan and focussing on the race ahead.

The Race officer gathers all the data and transfers the line position etc to every competitor. The race timers are all synced, as we approach the start we can see “time to line, “distance to line2 and boats speed. If we are over the line our Vakaros unit indicates OCS or if we are good it will show all clear..

In your opinion, how does our instrumentation compare to others in the market, and what features do you find most useful?

There is no comparison with competitors.

What do you believe are the future opportunities for Sailfast UK in integrating innovative technologies like RaceSense into your sailing solutions?

The Race Sense system will simply gather momentum and become the go to product for international, National and club racing.
