Vakaros And Etchells Class Partner to Implement New Race Management Technology
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between Vakaros and the International Etchells Class, set to debut at the upcoming Bill Steele Regatta (Pre-Worlds) and Etchells World Championships in Perth, Australia, from March 15th to 22nd. This collaboration marks a significant step forward for both organizations, bringing cutting-edge technology to the forefront of competitive sailing.
At the heart of this partnership is the integration of RaceSense technology, the future of on-water race management. Each of the 41 participating teams will be equipped with an Atlas 2, revolutionizing the way sailors approach their races. Boats will receive automatically synchronized timers, and Race Committee will receive feedback on OCS determination as well as boat position and motion.
The historic character of Etchells racing will remain unchanged: teams will only be able to view a magnetic compass and timer while on the water, and won’t be able to see ‘pings’. This transformative step opens the door for new technologies entering historic classes to improve racing while remaining true to classic sailing roots.
The Atlas 2 device is not just your ordinary sailing gadget; it's a game-changer. Combined with RaceSense technology, it’s designed to measure time and distance to the line with unparalleled accuracy, it minimizes general recalls and provides instant feedback on race starts. But its capabilities don't end there. The Atlas 2 also serves as a tracking system, recording every sailing session for later analysis on our Vakaros Connect app.
As we gear up for the Etchells World Championships, we look forward to witnessing the impact of RaceSense technology on the racing experience. Stay tuned for updates from the event and follow along!
